Bangladesh Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) on Friday urged the government to focus heavily on healthcare development and to take a long term policy for the improvement of this sector.
“Soft loan or long term supplier credit up to 7-10 years need to be open for both the public and private sectors,” BMCCI President also the Senior Vice President of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry S M Nurul Hoque told UNB.
In its reaction over the proposed national budget for FY21, the BMCCI President said “Commercial banks need to come forward to provide necessary payment guarantee/LC to respective hospitals and local vendors.”
Urging the government to declare healthcare industry as priority sector, BMCCI President said “Medical equipment need to be imported against contract if required.”
He also sought an exemption of import duty and other charges on all medical equipment, accessories and related spare parts for next five years.
The BMCCI leader said all new division and district-based hospitals need to get five years tax holiday while new hospitals need 10 years tax holiday in this case.
Investment of any amount of black or undisclosed money needs to be allowed in healthcare sector, he added.
Meanwhile, BMCCI President urged the government to allow international doctors to practice in Bangladesh during this Covid-19 crisis.
He also sought permission for international suppliers and manufacturers with JV local company to bid online specially in medical sectors.During this coronavirus crisis, BMCCI president also urged the authorities to allow international supplier to register and bid online.
Marking the growth of recent online business, BMCCI President urged the government to make a policy of exemption of all online transactions for the next three years to boost local industries and small business.
