Blankets distributed in Jamalpur, Gazipur

'Amra 88', an organization of friends of the SSC 1988 batch, distributed blankets among helpless and poor families in Jamalpur on Wednesday to protect them from the sufferings of the ongoing cold wave.

 Jamalpur Online Journalist Network President Human Rights Activist Jahangir Salim inaugurated the blanket distribution programme. Humayun Kabir, one of 'Amra 88's friends, presided over the distribution ceremony. Friends of the group, local dignitaries, were present.

The poor and disabled people of the area expressed great satisfaction after receiving the blankets.

Human rights activist Jahangir Salim said that like every year, the friendly organization 'Amra 88' created an example of serving humanity by distributing blankets to the cold-hit people. 

If various organisations like them came forward, helpless people would be saved from sufferings. He called upon the wealthy and charitable people to come forward.

Gazipur Correspondent  reports: Warm clothes were distributed among 250 freedom fighters (FFs) in Gazipur's Kaliganj upazila on Tuesday.

In addition, these warm clothes were distributed among a total of 650 people in Kaliganj Municipality, Tumlia, Bakhtarpur, Jangalia, Moktarpur, Jamalpur and Bahadursadi unions of the upazila.

Gazipur-5 seat MP Freedom Fighter Akhtaruzzaman was present as the chief guest at the programme organized by the upazila administration at Shaheed Moyezuddin auditorium in the afternoon.

Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Azizur Rahman presided over the programme where freedom fighter KBM Mofizur Rahman Khan, district AL leader Advocate Ashrafi Mehedi Hasan, UP chairman Abubakar Mia Bakku, Abdul Gani Bhuiyan, Atiqur Rahman Faruk, municipal councilors Afsar Hossain, Badal Hossain spoke.

Among others, upazila assistant commissioner (Land) Umme Hafsa Nadia, former freedom fighter commander Mustafa Mia, secondary education officer Noor-e-Jannat, project implementation officer Abul Kalam Azad, social service officer Shahadat Hossain, cooperative officer Ataur Rahman were presenr at that time.
