Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Saturday said that the members of the Bangladesh Law Association (BLA) can make important contribution to establishing the rule of law.
"The rule of law is now interrelated with many surrounding issues. From that point of view, apart from judges and lawyers, people of various professions of the Bangladesh Law Association can make important contribution to establishing the rule of law," he said.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the 35th annual conference of the Bangladesh Law Association (Bangladesh Ain Samity) at Dhaka University, an official release said.
Anisul Haque said Bangladesh Law Society can contribute to providing legal aid to poor and helpless people, creating awareness among the general public about law, conducting research on law and crime.
With Bangladesh Law Association president Barrister Sajjad Hossain in the chair, it was attended, among others, by Justice Jahangir Hossain, Secretary of Law and Justice Division Md Golam Sarwar and Dhaka University Faculty of Law Dean Professor Dr Md Rahmat Ullah.
