Biva Mandal elected chairman of Muksudpur UP in by-poll

Bibha Mandal has won the post of chairman by a huge margin in the three-pronged vote battle in the by-election of Jalirpar Union Parishad No. 17 under Muksudpur Upazila of Gopalganj.

Bibha Mandal got 5 thousand 79 votes with pineapple symbol and his nearest rival Biplab Majumdar got 3 thousand 628 votes with motorcycle symbol. Bibha Mandal was elected to the post of chairman by getting more than 1 thousand 451 votes. 

Another contender for the post of chairman, Shefali Rani Hawladar, wife of the late chairman of Jalirpar Union Parishad, Mihir Kanti Roy, got 2 thousand 29 votes.

On Saturday (March 9) from 8 am to 4 pm, polling was completed in 9 centers in a festive atmosphere. 

The total number of voters in the election was 17 thousand 245, 10 thousand 963 exercised their right to vote and 74 votes were cancelled.

Muksudpur Upazila Election Officer and Returning Officer Jewel Ahmed said that from 8 am to 4 pm, the by-election of Jalirpar Union Parishad No. 17 of Muksudpur Upazila was held in a peaceful environment in a free, fair and impartial manner. 

There was no disorder in the elections held. A fair election was held as per the rules of the Election Commission. 

Bibha Mandal, the candidate of pineapple symbol in the election, was unofficially elected as the chairman by getting more than 1 thousand 451 votes.
