Biplob wants to add googly, flipper to his armoury

Tigers cry for a quality leg spinner is for a long time. Aminul Islam Biplob, who made his T20 debut against Zimbabwe a year ago, raised hopes to fill that void. He also performed brilliantly in T20’s against India on their own soil. With proper nurturing, this young man can be the answer of Tigers long awaited call for a leg spinner.

However, the 20-year-old leg spinner now sets his eyes on red ball cricket and also wants to add more variety in his bowling.

After making his debut with 2 wickets for 18 runs against Zimbabwe, he has taken 10 wickets in 7 T20I matches so far. However, his resolute bowling and stubborn attitude gives him more opportunities to improve as a player.  Bangladesh cricketers on Wednesday resumed individual training again at different BCB facilities across the country, following a few days' gap after a few members of the support staff had displayed coronavirus-like symptoms. The leg-spinner also came to practice at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.

Biplob said he now wants to add googly and flipper to his armoury.

“There was no scope to work with bowling during the lockdown,” Biplob said, adding that he is now working with googly and flipper, the two weapons that work better in Test cricket.

“But during that period I used to watch my own bowling videos and tried to figure out where there is a deficit, and where the improvement needs to play good cricket. When we start practicing, I start with leg spin. Then I slowly started working on my googly and flipper. Hopefully there will be something better up front,” he added.

Bangladesh will play a three-match Test series against Sri Lanka soon. Biplob is also eyeing the Tests, saying, “Ultimately every cricketer has a goal to play red ball cricket. I have that too, I will try my best to do well, if I ever get a chance.”
