Biomedical department will play a key role in upgrading medical system: CUET VC

"BME Fiesta-2022" was held on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the Biomedical Engineering Department of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) on Sunday. A joyous rally was brought out in front of the biomedical building at 10.00 am. It was led by the Vice Chancellor of Chuet Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam. The guests of the program, the faculty of various departments of the university, officials and students of the biomedical department participated in it. Earlier, the day-long program started with the official cutting of the cake in the corridor of the biomedical department.

Later, a seminar titled “Future of Healthcare and Role of Biomedical Engineers” was held in the seminar room of the Mechanical Engineering Department. Vice Chancellor of CUET Prof Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam was the chief guest on the occasion. The guest of honor was Engineer SM Lokman, Chairman of Epic Properties Limited. 

In the speech of the chief guest, Professor Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam said, “Biomedical is a multidisciplinary department. It also has applications in electrical, computer science and medical science. Biomedical engineering is in great demand in the outside world. Biomedical is at the core of current technological advances in medical science. Keeping in mind the challenges of the 4th Industrial Revolution and with the support of Sheikh Kamal IT Business Incubator, I am hopeful that the Biomedical Department of Chuet will also be able to play a role in revolutionizing the medical system in Bangladesh.” At the end of the seminar, the honorable chief guest distributed the prizes to the winners of the idea competition organized on the occasion of “BME Fiesta-2022”. Earlier, Professor Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam inaugurated two state-of-the-art laboratories named "Human Anatomy and Physiology Lab" and "Bio-Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer Lab" established in Academic-5 of the university.

The special guests were the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering Prof. Dr. Mohammad Moshiul Haque and the former chairman of IEB Chittagong Center, Engineer Delwar Majumder. The resource person of the seminar was Dr. Khondkar A. Mamun, Founder and Director of AIMS and Professor of Computer Science and Engineering Department of United International University. Prof Dr. Kazi Delwar Hossain, Head of Department of Biomedical Engineering presided over the event. Under the direction of Mr. Mo Fazlur Karim Khondkar, Lecturer of Biomedical Engineering Department, '19 batch student Rehena Shahid and '20 batch student Ishrat Jahan also spoke.
