BIMSTEC faculty exchange programme begins

A  five-day faculty exchange program with the participation of foreign service academies of BIMSTEC member countries began on Sunday in the capital Dhaka.

This is the first ever such program of the BIMSTEC, a foreign ministry press release said.

 Ambassador Mashfee Binte Shams,  who is also the  Rector of Foreign Service Academy of Bangladesh , Mahishini Colonne, Director of BIMSTEC Secretariat, Abdul Motaleb Sarker, Director General (SAARC & BIMSTEC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh and Directors of BIMSTEC Secretariat,  among others spoked  at the inauguration ceremony. 

13 faculties of foreign service academies from 7 countries of BIMSTEC are participating in this program.

 During the five-day program from March 3 to 7, BIMSTEC member countries will present proposals on ways to increase mutual cooperation among foreign service training institutions.

This type of program was organized for the first time in the light of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the member countries at the BIMSTEC Summit held in Sri Lanka in March 2022.

Under the MoU, the countries will work to increase overall cooperation, including organizing short courses for the participation of officials of the countries as part of increasing the training capacity of the foreign service academies of the member countries.
