Biman Bangladesh Airlines scheduled to resume flight operation on Dhaka- Tokyo route from Friday night. This significant development marks a pivotal moment in air travel, offering a seamless connection between Dhaka and Narita International Airport, Tokyo.
The inaugural flight, operated with the latest model Boeing 787 Dreamliner, took off at 11:45pm following an official launching program held at 8pm at the airport terminal on the same day. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mahbub Ali as the chief guest made the official announcement. Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori was also present as the special guest.
Starting from September 1, Biman flights from Dhaka to Narita will be available every Friday, Monday, and Wednesday, with departure times at 11:45 PM. On the return journey, flights from Narita to Dhaka will depart every Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 11 AM local time.
Previously, travelers from Dhaka wishing to visit Japan had to endure the inconvenience of connecting flights through other countries, which not only consumed valuable time but also incurred additional costs.
With the introduction of these direct flights, both time and expenses are expected to be significantly reduced, making Japan more accessible to a wider range of passengers. Biman Bangladesh Airlines anticipates this route to be highly profitable and a sought-after choice for travelers.
According to Biman sources a substantial portion of tickets for the inaugural flight have already been sold. In addition to passengers originating from Dhaka, this route is actively promoted to travelers from Kathmandu, Delhi, and Kolkata, further enhancing its appeal.
The direct flight from Dhaka to Japan offers the remarkable advantage of reaching Japan in just six hours, eliminating the need for extensive layovers or connecting flights.
Expressed his enthusiasm the Managing Director and CEO of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Shafiul Azim said, “From today, we are flying to Japan. This air route not only strengthens the ties between Bangladesh and Japan but also opens up exciting opportunities for travelers seeking to explore the Land of the Rising Sun in a more convenient and cost-effective manner.”
Chairman of the board of directors of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Mostofa Kamal Uddin, Principal Secretary of the Prime Minister Office Mohammad Tofazzel Hossain Miah, Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Md Mokammel Hossain, and Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Maidur Rahman among others were present at the inauguration ceremony.
