Biman Bangladesh Airlines has propelled itself into the realm of smart aviation by unveiling the world-renowned flight dispatch solution, ‘Lido Flight 4D’, developed by Germany's Lufthansa Systems.
Biman’s Managing Director and CEO Shafiul Azim officially inaugurated the software in the presence of German representatives at Biman’s head office Balaka on Tuesday. CEO of Lufthansa Systems Asia Pacific Region Tom VanDendael was present as a special guest on the occasion.
The ‘Lido Flight 4D’ software is a comprehensive dispatch system that empowers precise and cost-effective flight planning. For international flights, meticulous planning is imperative, involving considerations such as distance to the destination, aircraft speed, weather conditions, determination of alternative routes in case of emergencies, fuel calculations, and more.
Flight dispatch is the meticulous orchestration of these factors, taking into account various contingencies, including adverse weather conditions like cyclones or eruptions.
Biman has transitioned from using the CITA flight plan system to temporarily employing the Skyplan system. However, the airline has now embraced the state-of-the-art ‘Lido Flight 4D’ flight dispatch solution as part of its journey to becoming a smart airline.
Notably, this solution is trusted by renowned global carriers, including Qatar Airways, Emirates Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Etihad Airways, and British Airways.
The adoption of 'Lido Flight 4D' is poised to revolutionize Biman's flight operations, enabling highly accurate, safe, and cost-effective flight planning. The software facilitates real-time weather monitoring, automatic identification of adverse conditions, and supports alternative approaches. Live monitoring during flights will enhance decision-making, ensuring the selection of the most cost-efficient routes and optimal performance for a secure journey from takeoff to landing.
