Biman Bangladesh Airlines has taken a significant leap forward in ensuring seamless ground and luggage handling at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) by introducing cutting-edge body cameras for its staff.
Biman authorities said that 100 Japanese-made body cameras have been purchased for Biman's ground handling staff. From this month, the staff will perform their duties by wearing body cameras. It will record all the information at all times so that any arising situation can be satisfactorily resolved quickly.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has added such innovation to its services in celebration of Aviation Safety Week this year. The authorities said that this service will be useful not only in ensuring the safe travel of the passengers, but also in the protection of aircraft assets and installations and in improving the internal discipline of the organization.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines managing director and CEO Shafiqul Azim during the security week celebration said, “It will be possible to achieve transparency and accountability. Besides, if there is any unwanted syndicate, it will be possible to break it.”
“If an allegation of bag or luggage mishandling is found our technology will solve any complaint, and it will also prove whether any of our staff have any connection here,” he continued, “Apart from providing maximum security to the passengers, we are committed to ensuring the security of their assets as well.”
According to Biman Bangladesh Airlines sources, these cameras will be attached to the front of the worker’s body with a belt, not secretly. These cameras will be controlled from a high powered control tower. No one can turn off the camera at all. While sitting in the office, authority will see the image of the workers, including luggage handling. It will be possible to ensure that the employees perform their duties properly.”
Biman’s Safety Week ends on Thursday. The modernization of airport security includes new dress code along with body cameras and the unveiling of a new airport security logo during this time.
Using the camera, it can also inspect where the worker is going or what he is doing. Sometimes the staff goes outside from his work area. With this camera, he cannot go beyond the responsibility. It will also help in restoring the image of Biman.
