For the first time, the C-check of the world’s most advanced Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft has been successfully completed in the country with the help of skilled engineers and technicians.
The C-check of 1 more Dreamliner will be completed in the country this year and four more next year. All this will help the country save around USD 3 to USD 4 million.
State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mahbub Ali said this while speaking as the chief guest at a function held at Biman Bangladesh Airlines headquarters in Balaka to mark the successful completion of Dreamliner C-check and the awarding of flight crews to rescue Bangladeshis stranded in Wuhan, China at the beginning of the Covid-19 epidemic on Sunday.
It is noted that C-check is a long-term, complex and high-tech check to make the aircraft airworthy after detailed inspection by unveiling the various infrastructures of the aircraft. The C-check of Boeing 787 model Dreamliner has to be completed every three years. Following this, Biman started the first C-check operation of Boeing 7-8 Dreamliner ‘Akash Beena’ from August 17, 2021 and successfully completed it in 10 working days.
He added, “Very few airlines in the world have the capability to do C-check modern aircraft like the Dreamliner. Earlier, C-check of any new aircraft was done through foreign MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Organization) in Germany, Italy or Singapore. Completing Dreamliner’s C-check with its own manpower and management is a shining example of increasing aircraft capacity. This success has been possible only because of the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership.”
The state minister said, “Biman would be given all possible support to build a skilled manpower and engineering infrastructure to carry out all the necessary checks in the country for the maintenance of the aircraft in the future fleet. While maintaining the continuity of this success, Biman will play an important role in building the self-reliant and developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by the Father of the Nation under the multi-dimensional leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”
Praising Biman’s flight crew for rescuing Bangladeshis stranded in Wuhan, China due to the coronavirus, Mahbub Ali said the state-owned flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines has always worked to the best of its ability to meet the needs of the country and its people. The pilots and cabin crew of the aircraft have performed their duties in the interest of the country, in the interest of the people. Although operations were limited, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and the airport were not closed for a day.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director and CEO Abu Saleh Mostafa Kamal presided over the programme while Chairman of the Board of Directors Sajjadul Hasan and Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Md. Mokammel Hossain addressed the function as special guests.
