Bike cc limit in Bangladesh

Bangladesh's motorcycle sector is growing at a rapid pace. Some well-known Chinese and European motorcycle firms are joining the Japanese and Indian ones in developing and introducing new models with cutting-edge features. Motorcycle manufacturers are unable to introduce their high-end models in Bangladesh due to the 165cc restriction. Many Japanese, Indian, and European companies have innovative items they've been unable to market due to CC restrictions. Suppose you awoke one morning to find that the CC restriction had been lifted. Which bike would you buy?

We have a few misconceptions about sportier motorcycles. Many people believe that motorbikes in the higher classes, which have top speeds of more than 200 km/h, will be the primary source of collisions. However, no one mentions that motorcycles in higher price ranges have better handling, better brakes, more comfortable seating and riding positions, and numerous other new and enhanced features. What would happen to the Bangladeshi motorbike market if the country's government raises the CC cap from 165cc to 350cc?

Bangladesh is reportedly moving closer to permitting high-CC motorcycles, according to news reports posted online. According to reports, the cc restriction would be 350cc, which has sparked controversy among Bangladesh's motorcycle enthusiasts. People are already talking about it on social media and in other places. There are debates, criticisms, expectations, and dejections all going on here. Many people believe that high-CC bikes would once again jangle Bangladesh's highways. Again, many people are pessimistic because of the past.

Although the cc limit raising hasn't been confirmed, these are the most likely future motorcycles from a variety of well-known companies that are poised to expand Bangladesh's motorcycle market if the rumors are accurate. Aside from these well-known names and models, there will undoubtedly be a slew of newcomers from China and elsewhere. If the credit card limit increases as predicted, you'll have to choose a new one.

According to a proposal of the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission, the motorbike cc limit should be raised to 350cc by the end of the year in 2020 to liberate Bangladesh from its draconian restrictions. Bangladesh's law enforcement organizations were concerned that criminals would employ large engine capacity motorcycles and police would be unable to pursue them on the road. Many myths have been spread, such as the notion that Bangladeshi roads are unsuitable for powerful bikes, and that powerful bikes could lead to more traffic accidents.

But finally, as per the decision made by the government of Bangladesh, there will be a three-year wait until the government eventually decides to legalize bikes with engine capacities greater than 165cc before 2024. According to the Motorcycle Industry Development Policy-2018, they advocated removing the CC restriction after November 2023. The Bangladesh Motorcycle Assemblers and Manufacturers Association (BMAMA) has argued that allowing up to 350cc motorcycles on local roads would cause market distortions and make it more difficult for existing manufacturers to achieve a breakeven point. The existing manufacturers have invested more than Tk8,000 crore based on the restrictive policy, according to the BMAMA.

Bangladeshi manufacturers can now export 500cc motorcycles, but no one can make or import bikes larger than 165cc for the domestic market. For many years before the early 2000s, motorcycle enthusiasts in Bangladesh could ride powerful bikes on the country's sparsely populated roads since there was no cc restriction. Because most safety features are only found in large-capacity bikes, this choice deprives Bangladeshi motorcycle riders of reliable two-wheelers and the chance to boost Bangladesh's motorcycle sector to new heights.
