Bijoy Utsab kicks off in Jhenaidah

Marking the birth centennial of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a three-day cultural festival, titled Bijoy Sangskritik  Utsab was inaugurated in Jhenaidah on Tuesday evening.

The programme was inaugurated at Jhenidah district Shilpakala Academy hall room with Moslem Ali in the chair.

Organized by Ankur Natya Academy and Jhenidah Shishu-Kishore Natyadal, deputy commissioner (DC) Saroj Kumar Nath inaugurated the festival as chief guest burning Mangal Prodip, a lamp, an earthen pot.

Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) revenue Selim Reza, Bangladesh group theatre Federation secretary general Kamal Bayazid, Jhenidah Sadar police station officer in charge Mijanur Rahman, Ankur Natya Academy general secretary Nazim Uddin Julias, Gram Theatre Federation Khulna divisional organizing secretary Ekramul Haq Liku, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation Khulna divisional organizing secretary Sharif Khan and Shahinur Alam Liton among others remain present.

Later a colourful dance and poetry recitation was held in the inaugural hours. A drama “Rasabhnaga” based on bribe business in 19th centuries, was staged. The festival was scheduled to be concluded till December 3, the organizers said.
