Bhaswar Bandyopadhyay gets reception for Ekushey Padak

The Dhaka chapter of the Delhi-based International Bangla Language and Culture Samiti has accorded a reception to noted recitation artist Bhaswar Bandyopadhyay for receiving the Ekushey Padak, the second highest civilian award of Bangladesh.

Members of the Siliguri, Kalyani, Tripura and Kolkata chapters were also connected online. President of the association Masud Karim delivered the welcome remark while General Secretary Nasir Ahmed read out the bio of Bhaswar Bandyopadhyay who is also the vice-president of the association. Novelist Rahman Mohammad Lutfor presented the crest to the artist.

Born on February 11 in 1952 in Khulna, Bhaswar Bandyopadhyay is a recitation artiste, actor and writer. He completed his MA in Mass Communication & Journalism from Dhaka University and obtained the degree of Ph.D. in Theatre from Rabindra Bharati University. 

He directed many theatrical productions including ‘Raktakarabi’, ‘Raja Oedipus’, ‘Pratham Partha’, ‘Ekei Bole Sabhyata’ and ‘Buro Shaliker Ghare Row’. He is an enlisted artiste of Bangladesh Betar since 1970 and Bangladesh Television since 1976.
