‘Bhaoyaiya’ festival concludes in Rangpur

The two-day Bhaoyaiya festival ends in Rangpur. The departmental festival started on Friday evening with the colorful arrangement of Bhaoyaiya Angan. Artists from eight districts of Rangpur Division performed Bhavaya. 

Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Mostafizur Rahman Mostafa addressed the discussion as the chief guest at Rangpur Town Hall Auditorium. At that time, he said, Rangpur is a region rich in art, literature and culture. Bhaoyaiya is the cultural heritage of our northern region. With the advent of modernity, the present generation is far from the Bhaoyaiya of the roots. Bhavaiya must be kept alive among them. He lauded the Bhaoyaiya Angan, a nationally specialized organization for the collection, preservation and research of Bhaoyaiya songs, and called upon the culturally minded people of the society to come forward for the promotion and preservation of Bhaoyaiya.

Special guests on the occasion were executive member of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Natyabaktibat Biplob Prasad, President of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Rezaul Islam Milon, Bhaoyaiya researcher Md. Sirajuddin, writer and researcher Anwarul Islam Raju. Salma Mostafiz, Central Chairman of Bhaoyaiya Angan and AKM Mostafizur Rahman, Founder and Executive Director of the organization spoke on the occasion. 

President of Bhavaya Angan Harun Aur Rashid presided over the inauguration of Bhaoyaiya Utsav. Secretary of Bhaoyaiya Aangan Ranjit Kumar Roy gave a welcome speech on the occasion. 

Earlier on Friday afternoon, veteran Bhaoyaiya artist Radha Rani Sarkar inaugurated the festival by flying balloons at the divisional office premises of Bhaoyaiya Angan on Engineerpara Road in Rangpur city. After the inauguration, a colorful procession was taken out from there. 

Bhavaya lyricists, composers and organizers took part in it.

Artists from Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Nilphamari and Panchagarh performed on the opening day of the two-day festival and artists from Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat, Dinajpur and Rangpur performed Bhavaya on Saturday. Organizer AKM Mostafizur Rahman said that the festival was organized with Bhavaya artists from eight districts of Rangpur division to improve the quality of Bhavaya songs.
