BGB seizes LSD, Phensedyl worth Tk 4.16 crore in Chaudanga

Moheshpur Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Battalion-58 seized 400 milligrams of Indian Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) and 5 bottles of Phensedyl from Jibanagar upazila of Chuadanga district on Saturday.

The drugs seized by BGB were worth Tk 4,16,72,000. They were seized from Uthali Secondary School area in Jibannagar upazila.

Assistant Director of Moheshpur BGB Battalion-58, Saiful Islam, confirmed the matter in a press release on Saturday night.

He said in the press release that they learned through intelligence information that a supply of drugs will enter Bangladesh from India through Uthali area of Jibanagar upazila. Acting on the information, a special of BGB under Uthali BOP took position in Uthali Secondary School area and waited there. 

Later, the BGB team noticed a motorcycle carrying two men is coming from the border area at around 2:45 pm. However, the motorcycle riders sensed the presence of the BGB team from far away and fled through a jute field leaving the motorcycle in the side of the road.

The BGB team searched the motorcycle and recovered 4 bottles of Indian LSD, with each bottle carrying 100 milligrams of it, and 5 bottles of Phensedyl, that were hidden inside the motorcycle in a special way. 

The market price of the seized drugs is Tk 4,16,72,000.
