Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have seized Indian goods worth approximately Taka 1.2 million during a raid at various points under Sribardi upazila in Sherpur border area on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, a patrol team from the BGB-39 Battalion, Mymensingh, conducted a raid at around 6 am and recovered a significant quantity of smuggled Indian goods, including 54,000 pieces of Gillette blades, 120 kilograms of cumin, 1,550 pieces of betel nuts, seven bottles of liquor and five Indian cows.
The BGB sources said that the raid was carried out at multiple locations in Sribardi upazila and the smugglers managed to flee the scene after sensing the presence of the patrol team.
No arrests were made during the operation.
Commander of BGB-39 Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Mehedi Hasan confirmed the seizure and said BGB remains vigilant to curb cross-border smuggling and ensure the security of the international frontier.
