Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in different drives, has seized smuggled goods, arms, ammunition and drugs worth about Taka 184.36 crore from the country's border areas and other places in the month of June.
The BGB, through press release, on Sunday said that the seized items include 11.228 kg gold, 14.2 kg silver, 1, 70,599 cosmetic items, 7,168 imitation jewellery, 22,320 sarees, 2,658 three-pieces/Lehangas/shirt pieces/sheets/blankets, 1,793 ready-made garments, 2,526 cubic feet of wood, 8,829 tea leaves, 2,250 kilograms (Kgs) coal, 1,917 kg current net, two touchstone of 'Koshti Pather', 60-kg turtle bones, 725-kg gamaxin powder, six
trucks, 14 pick-up/ tractors, two buses, three private car/microbus ,18 CNG/easy-bike and 86 motorcycles.
The recovered weapons include one pistol, two magazines, one mortar cell, 16 round of bullets and 10-kg of petrol bomb-making powder.
A large quantity of narcotics was also seized by the BGB last month. The seized drugs include 14, 61,016 contraband yaba tablets, 7.390-kg of crystal meth ice, 26.3-kg of heroin, 15,374 bottles of phensedyl, 16,793 bottles of foreign liquor, 3,539 cans of beer, 1,758-kg of ganja, 8,05,5361 packets of Bidi and cigarettes, four bottles of LSD, 49,917 pieces of narcotic injection/ tablets, 2,546 Enegra/Senegra tablets, 2,102 bottles of Eskayef syrups, 1,510 bottles of Mkdil/Cofidil, 10,34,889 pieces of various types of medicines and 1,29,417 other tablets.
Meanwhile, legal action has been taken against 183 smugglers for their involvement in various types of drug trafficking and other smuggling, and against 85 Bangladeshi nationals, five Indian nationals and 37 Myanmar nationals for illegally crossing the border.
