Members of Chuadanga BGB Battalion-6 detained one person with 2 kg and 335 grams of gold from Thakurpur village under Damurhuda Upazila in Chuadanga on Wednesday.
The detainee is identified as Akram Hossain, son of Abdus Sattar of village Thakurpur in Damurhuda Upazila of the district.
Lt. Col. Sayeed Mohammad Jahidul Rahman, Commanding Officer of Chuadanga BGB Battalion-6, said on information, a team of BGB members of Thakurpur BOP, led by Commander of the BOP Saiful Islam, was waiting in a banana garden of the village. A motorcyclist was going near the road of the banana garden in the border area. BGB members intercepted the motorcycle. However, the motorcyclist tried to flee the scene leaving the motorcycle but the BGB men caught him. After searching his body, the gold was recovered from his possession.
The detainee was handed over to police. A case was filed with Darshana police station in this connection.
