BGB detains 3 smugglers, recovers 3.5 kgs of gold bar in Benapole

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained three gold smugglers along with 3.5 kgs (16 pieces) of gold bar in separate drives at Amrakhali, Daulotpur and Ghiba Bordering areas of Benapole on Wednesday noon. The three were detained while they are smuggling the gold to India.

The arrestees were identified as Rabiul Islam, 36, son of Monir Uddin of RN Road area of Jashore, Dilip Kumar, 30, son of Gahor Kumar of Ghiba village, and Minara Khatun, 25, wife of Ramzan Ali, a local resident of Barachara village. They were smuggling gold to India for money for a long time, the BGB said.

49 BGB deputy commanding officer  Major Nazrul Islam said that on information, three BGB patrol teams conducted a drive at Amrakhali area and arrested Rabiul Islam along with eight pieces (785 grams) of gold bar,  while Dilip Kumer was arrested with two pieces (two kgs) of gold bar from Ghiba border and Monira Khatun was held with  six pieces (700 grams) of gold bar from Daulatpur border.

The value of the gold is TK. 1 crore 75 lakh BGB added. 

The detainees were handed over to Benapole Port Police Station. Three cases were filed with the police station.
