Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has destroyed a huge amount of illegal drugs worth Tk 25 crore in Jashore. All these narcotics were destroyed at the headquarters of BGB 49 Battalion around 11.00am on Wednesday. BGB Khulna Sector Commander Col. Mamunur Rashid was the chief guest at the event organised on the occasion.
The drugs were seized from different places at different times, according to a press release issued by Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Hasan Jamil, commanding officer of the 49 Border Guard Battalion.
It stated that the seized drugs include 75,005 bottles of Phensedyl, 1,703.36 kilograms of hemp, 7.982 kgs of heroin, 21,005 Yaba pills and 69,050 Viagra tablets.
The contraband items were seized between 2017 and 2023, the release added.
