BGB deployed in Benapole to stop  Covid spread

Border guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed in Benapole port area to prevent spread of Covid-19 . BGB 49 Battalion have been keeping a close watch in the border area, including Benapole port, since Wednesday night to prevent further spread of Covid-19. Indian truck drivers are being told to stay at the port area for further health inspection.

BGB is warning people moving in the border areas including the port to wear masks. Patrols have been increased across the border to prevent anyone from crossing the border illegally.

Various measures have been taken to prevent illegal movement in the area

Benapole Police Immigration OC Ahsan Habib said that 70 Bangladeshi passengers returned home from India on Wednesday. They have been kept under police guard in various hotels and guest houses in Benapole and Jashore for a 14-day quarantine.

Lt. Col. Selim Reza, Commanding officer ,49 BGB Battalion, is visiting the border area on a daily basis. 

He said such activities would be continued in his area of responsibility to prevent spread of Covid-19.
