BGB-BSF flag meeting promises to boost ties

Commandant level flag meeting between the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Indian border security force (BSF) was held at the commanding area of the BSF at Tongi in India, opposite side of the BGB Medinipur border observation pharee (BoP) on Thursday afternoon, said a BGB sources at 58 battalion in Khalishpur of Jhenidah.

BGB 58 battalion additional director Mehedi Hasan Khan quoting the battalion director said BGB 58 battalion director Lieutenant colonel Qamrul Ahsan led the Bangladeshi team, while BSF 54 battalion commandant Deshraj Shingh led the Indian counterpart.

BGB 6 (Chuadanga) battalion commandant Lieutenant colonel Khelequzzaman and 58 battalion deputy commandant Mehedi Hasan Khan, signal command and five other company commanders remain present during the flag meeting from the Bangladeshi part. 81 BSF battalion commandant Sree SR Mina, 84 battalion commandant Sree NS Vishat, 99 battalion commandant Sree Sanjib and 8 battalion acting commandant Sree HS Loyang and staff officers remain present from the counterpart.

Both the parts came to a understanding that to stop the smuggling and illegal entry from and to any of the two neighboring countries, no permanent structure will be constructed within 150 yards of the zero lines. They will organize pre discussion for the sharing of joint bordering rivers etc. 

The three-hour long discussion had promised to strengthen the ties between the two neighboring and real friends for a sustainable atmosphere in the bordering areas. It will help increase the legal trading like export, import and other bilateral issues in near future, the meeting determined.
