Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested a fake journalist along with 96 bottles of Phensedyl from Putkhali Bordering area on Saturday afternoon.
The arrestee was identified as Sheikh Selim, 50, son of late Sheikh Shahjan Ali of Pathbari village under Benapole Port Police Station and vice-president of the so-called Ekota Press Club, Benapole.
21 BGB Battalion Commanding Officer Lt. Colonel Manzoor Elahi said that, BGB seized Selim's motorcycle on his way to Benapole with 96 bottles of Phensedyl.
According to the BGB, Sheikh Selim had been doing phensedyl business for a long time, claiming to be the co-president of Ekota Press Club Benapole.
Mamun Khan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station, said 21 BGB members handed over 96 bottles of Phensedyl from a drug dealer named Sheikh Selim under the Narcotics Act. Police will take steps to send the accused to Jashore court on Sunday.
According to the BGB, several drug dealers have been involved in smuggling phensedyl and yaba by using press stickers on motorcycles.
