The country is totally lockdown from April 22 to till 28. People from all walks of life now in the house and they can’t go without any work. In this circumstance, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), the highest governing body of the football met with the clubs representatives at the BFF premises.  BFF's senior vice-president and Professional Football League Committee (PFLC) Chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy virtually met with clubs.

"BFF sent a letter to the sports ministry, I hope the authorities will give us a good advice. As their positive advice, the BPL will run into the field. Football is being played all over the world. Even Indian Premier League (IPL) is being played in India. From the point of view, all the local clubs eager to play. We want the opinion from the ministry, regarding what should we do in this situation as the clubs are pressing us to resume the league," BFF's senior vice-president and professional league committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy said on Thursday.

The clubs want to restart the league after World Cup Qualifiers in June, Murshedy believes it would be tough for the clubs to bear the expense of the foreign players.

"If the league will kick off after the World Cup Qualifiers, it will be very hard to bear the expenses to maintain the clubs. So, we want to complete at least three or four rounds of matches of the league before the start of AFC Cup and World Cup Qualifiers,” said Murshedy.

The game's local governing body has started vaccinating footballers of top two leagues, with some 180 BPL players and 141 BCL players already getting the first shots of Covishield.
