Titas Economic Zone, a concern of the country's leading business conglomerate, Meghna Groups of Industries, was awarded with 'Pre-Qualification' by Bangladesh Economc Zones Authority (BEZA) in a ceremony at BEZA office, Agargaon in the capital on Tuesday.
BEZA Executive Chairman Sheikh Yusuf Harun attended the awarding ceremony a th chief guest while Meghna Group Chairman, eminent business personality, Mostofa Kamal attended as the special guest.
This was the 22nd pre-qualification, awarded by the BEZA.
Titas Economic Zone is located on a 161 acre of land at Chalivanga, beside the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway, Meghna Upazila under Comilla District. Titas economic zone authority has plan to increase the zone area upto 400 acre in near future.
Meghna Group of Industries is the entrepreneur of the proposed 'Titas Economic Zone' where, it is hoped that 3 billion US Dollar will be invested and will create job opportunity for about 60,000 people.
Primarily various heavy industries like Petrochemical refinery, paper and board, pharmaceutical, ICT products, PVC, RMG, Chemical, Plastic Goods, Packaging and Steel etc. will be accommodated in the economic zone.
