Best achievement after independence is Padma Bridge: Razzaque

Agriculture Minister and Awami League presidium member Dr Md Abdur Razzaque MP said that during the tenure of the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, unimaginable progress has been made in every sector including agriculture, communication system, trade, power, health, education, ICT. Which is being praised and rejoiced all over the world. 

“Of all the developments, however, the greatest and most notable achievement since independence is the Padma Bridge. This is the best achievement of the nation since independence in all aspects of development. The Padma Bridge will be a milestone in the history of the nation. At the same time, the name of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will always be remembered,” he said.

The Agriculture Minister said this while addressing a memorial meeting at Shaheed Smriti Municipal Park in Tangail on Friday afternoon. Tangail District Awami League organized a memorial service on the occasion of receiving the Ekushey Padak (posthumous) of Mirza Tofazzal Hossain Mukul, a comrade of Bangabandhu, son of Tangail, language soldier, one of the organizers of liberation war.

The minister said Padma bridge is the bridge of the nation's dream, the bridge of pride, the bridge of pride. It will be inaugurated on the 25th, on which day the whole nation will rejoice. If anyone wants to sabotage this festival by conspiracy, they will be dealt with severely. No evil power can hinder the joy of inauguration of Padma Bridge.

Mentioning that the Padma Bridge will also bring a revolutionary change in the agriculture of the southern region, the minister said that flowers of Jessore, vegetables and fruits produced in the southern region including mangoes of Satkhira can easily come to Dhaka. Agricultural processing institutes will be set up in those areas. This will create markets at the local level as well as export abroad.

Responding to a question from reporters about the Comilla City Corporation elections, the minister said the present Election Commission is very capable of conducting fair and fair elections. Comilla City Corporation election has been beautiful and fair. You don't have to just win or lose. There has been a fierce battle between the two candidates, the Awami League candidate has won by a narrow margin of votes - these are also to be considered. All in all, the election has been beautiful.
