The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) on Wednesday reduced the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) at the consumer level.
The new prices will come into effect at 6 pm today.
BERC Chairman Jalal Ahmed stated that for the month of July, the price of a 12 kg LPG cylinder has been set at Tk 1,364, a decrease of Tk 39 from its previous price of Tk 1,403.
This adjustment follows the last price revision on June 2, when the 12 kg cylinder price was reduced by Tk 28 to Tk 1,403.
Auto Gas Price
BERC also reduced the price of auto gas. For July, the consumer-level price of auto gas, including VAT, has been set at Tk 62.46 per liter, a reduction of Tk 1.84.
The previous auto gas price adjustment was also made on June 2, when it was reduced by Tk 1.27 to Tk 64.30 per liter, including VAT.
Pricing Mechanism
BERC said that the price adjustment for private LPG and auto gas at the consumer level for July was made considering the Saudi Aramco's announced Saudi CP (Contract Price) for propane and butane.
For July, propane is set at $575 per metric ton and butane at $545 per metric ton. With propane to butane ratio of 35:65, the average Saudi CP for propane and butane per metric ton is $555.50, according to the BERC.
