Beneficiaries of Asrayan-2 project having new dreams

Homeless couple Amal Mandal and Dipali Rani Mandal, who live on khas land in Shankarbhag Bazar area of Natore Sadar Upazila, are very happy with their new pucca house provided by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Amal, a day laborer, used to spend his days with his children in a makeshift dilapidated house on govt Khas land. Now they are weaving new dreams in their new house. Saying that now they have no worries about home and it will not be difficult to stay in the rain. He thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for providing them withg the new house.

Shripod Mandal, who is a day laborer in the same area said, “I never thought that one day I will get a chance to live in a pucca home. He is now overjoyed to get a house provided by the government. He said he would praise Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as long as he lived in the house.”

Like other places, on May 20, local MP Shafiqul Islam Shimul, beneficiary Amal and Shri Pad handed over the houses of 20 homeless families to the shelter project. The district administration and local people's representatives are working in coordination to rehabilitate the homeless and homeless people declared by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the entire district.

According to district administration sources, the current government is working on the Asrayan-2 project for the homeless on the occasion of the Mujib Barsho. In the first phase, 558 houses were allotted in Natore district. In the second phase, 1,382 houses have been allotted in 7 upazilas of the district. Of these, 100 have been allotted in Natore Sadar Upazila, 800 in Singra, 135 in Gurudaspur, 166 in Baraigram, 50 in Lalpur, 120 in Bagatipara and 10 in Naldanga. Of these, 1179 houses have been completed.

Work on the remaining 202 houses will be completed by June. With utmost importance, in accordance with the instructions of the Prime Minister, sincerity, transparency and in the shortest possible time, pucca houses allotted for the homeless are being constructed. To ensure transparency in the work, Natore-2 MP Shafiqul Islam Shimul and Deputy Commissioner Md Shahriaz have repeatedly inspected the work of the shelter project in 6 upazilas. Being monitored regularly.

Gurudaspur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tamal Hossain said the work of allocating houses to 50 people in the upazila has already been completed. Beneficiaries have started living there. In the second phase, work on 135 more houses is in the final stage. The house is being built according to that design plan centrally. The allocation for each house was 1 lakh 61 thousand rupees.

‘I personally, as a government employee, think this is one of the most memorable events of my working life. A man's dream is to have a house. The government has certainly done a very good job for the poor people. Because, the condition of those whose houses and lands have been given by the government in the area is really very bad.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Matore Md. Shahriaz said the district administration is working in coordination with the local people's representatives to rehabilitate the homeless and homeless on the basis of transparency with utmost importance in the entire district as per the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The house is being handed over to him as a gift from the Prime Minister so that not a single family is left homeless.

 As long as they remain homeless, they will be provided with housing. It is an ongoing noble and admirable work.

Shafiqul Islam Shimul, General Secretary of Natore District Awami League and Member of Parliament for Natore-2 constituency, said, “We are implementing the concept of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to provide houses to the homeless and homeless in Mujib Barsho.”

“As per the instructions of the Prime Minister, I am personally going to the spot, selecting the right beneficiaries, coordinating with the locals and all concerned and implementing the work properly. Khas land is being explored as per the instructions of the Prime Minister to make their homes so that no one is left homeless. Khas land will be found and more homeless people will be provided with houses”, he added.

MP Shafiqul Islam Shimul also expressed his desire to build houses for 2,000 families in his constituency, both privately and publicly.
