February 15 is the Benapole Tragedy Day. Marking the day, mourning rally, milad mahfil and doa mahfil were arranged at Benapole Government Primary School on Saturday. The day was observed led by Sheikh Afiluddin MP.
A total of nine child students of Benapole Government Primary School were killed in a tragic picnic bus accident on this day in 2014. On the return home from the picnic, more than half of the students, teachers and parents were injured in the accident at Jhautala Bazar on Chougachha-Maheshpur road in Jashore district. On this day, the students of Benapole Government Primary School in Sharsha Upazila went to Mujibnagar in Meherpur for an educational tour. On the way back from the bus, the bus fell into a pond along the road at Jhautala Bazar of Chougachha upazila.
To commemorate this day, black flags, Rally , Milad Mahfil and prayers were held at various organizations and educational institutions at Beanpole Government Primary School.
