Benapole Land Port to remain closed for 4 days

Import-export activities at Benapole Land Port will be closed for four consecutive days on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. Sajedur Rahman, general secretary of the Benapole C&F Agents Staff Association, confirmed the matter on Monday morning.

He said that on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, the import and export activities of this port will be closed from July 20 to July 23. Import-export activities will be active from the morning of July 24.

According to port sources, the two countries will be closed for four consecutive days on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha from July 20 to July 23 on the basis of discussions between two countries. Delivery of the goods at customs houses and ports will start from July 25.

It is to be mentioned that, approximately a total of 400 trucks of goods are imported from India through Benapole Land Port every day.The government earns about five thousand five hundred crore taka from this port every year.

Benapole Port Deputy Director (Traffic) Abdul Jalil said security has been beefed up at the port during the Eid holidays to prevent any untoward incidents. The port's own security forces and Ansar members will patrol the port area day and night. 

The matter has also been reported to the Benapole Port Police Station.

Benapole Port Police Station OC Mamun Khan said, Security has been beefed up in the port area during the Eid holidays. That is why special surveillance has been taken.
