Benapole Customs seizes Phensedyl, explosives, cigarettes

Customs authorities seized an Indian truck loaded with goods including explosives, Phensedyl, cigarettes and current nets in a false declaration against bond license in the shipment of denim fabrics through the Benapole land port on Wednesday afternoon. 

Benapole Customs House Joint Commissioner Abdur Rashid Mia said, After receiving a tip-off, a truck with two consignments of Denim Fabrics, Truck no DWB 23C 1815 from India entered the port at noon on Wednesday order of  the Commissioner Azizur Rahman.

The truck was later searched under the supervision of Customs' IRM team and total value goods worth TK. 2 crore, including an Indian truck with imported goods, were seized.

The importer of the seized goods, Ananta Fashion Ltd. of Dhaka and Fashion Form Ltd. 

Benapole C&F Agents Association President Mofizur Rahman Sazan said, India's transport owners are directly involved in the importing banned goods.  The driver of the truck and helper have been arrested and if their statement is accepted, then the real facts will come out.

Joint Commissioner Abdur Rashid Mia further said, Zero tolerance policy is being followed at Benapole port. Legal action will be taken against the importer. The relevant C&F license will be revoked. It will be implemented immediately.

Benapole Custom House Commissioner Md. Azizur Rahman said, The imported goods have been kept in the custody of the security port in the public interest as import is prohibited. Trade will be facilitated through Benapole port for honest traders. Under no circumstances allowed to be used as a safe route for smugglers.
