Benapole BGB seizes banned medicines, van

Border guard Bangladesh (BGB) in benapole seized a covered van loaded with banned Indian medicines and various items including Indian dresses, cosmetics, ready-made garments and current nets from  Navaran area in Benapole-Jashore highway on Sunday midnight. One person with the goods was detained.

The detainee was identified as Israfil Islam, of Gatipara village under Benapole Port Police Station.

Lieutenant Colonel Selim Reza , commanding officer 49 BGB said that a covered van (Dhaka Metro No-17,6229) carrying Huge Indian ban medicine including ready-made garments, dresses, illegally imported from India, was going to Dhaka from Benapole.

Upon receiving such secret information, A team of BGB personnel raided Navaran area and seized a covered van. Later, they searched the covered van and found multiple illegal products which were smuggled from India.

The BGB said the value of the seized goods was Tk 6.1 million. The BGB arrested the driver, helper and manager from the covered van.

As the driver and helper did not own the goods, a case was filed against the manager at Benapole Port Police Station. The detainee was handed over to the Benapole Police Station. Goods are deposited at Benapole Custom House.
