Begum Rokeya Day observed Four women get award

Begum Rokeya Day and International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women were observed in Sarankhola upazila of Bagerhat district as elsewhere in the country on Saturday.   The Upazila Administration arranged various programmes, including, human chain, discussion and reception to Joyeetas (the women who are successful in different fields) on the occasion.    

Upazila Women Affairs Officer Md A Hai spoke at a discussion organised by Upazila Administration. Upazila Agriculture Officer Devobrato Sarkar, former Sarankhola Press Club president Babul Das and Joyeeta Shamim Ara Badal.  

Four noted women of the upazila, who have immense contributions to different fields of the country, were given award at the programme.  

The recipients of the award are Shamim Ara Badal, wife of Shaheed Moniruzzamn Badal, former organising secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s central committee and mother-in-law of HM Bodiuzzamna Sohagh, former secretary of Chhatra League and AL aspirant candidate for Bagerhat-4 constituency, Mrs Halima Khatun, former head-mistress of RKDS Pilot Girls High School in sadar upazila and Aklima Begum, Member of Parliament from women reserved seat and Mrs Foizunnesa Bally.  Shamim Ara Badal got the award in education and job category, Halima Khatun got the award in the best mother category and Aklima Begum was given the award in the field social service category and Foizunnesa Belly in women entrepreneurship category.
