Be ready for highest sacrifice for motherland: Army chief

Chief of Army Staff General Aziz Ahmed instructed army units to be ready to uphold the dignity of the national flag and to accept the highest sacrifices in any need of the motherland, in recognition of efficiency, hard work and devotion to duty. 

The army chief gave the directives as the chief guest at the flag hoisting ceremony of four units at the newly formed Ramu Cantonment in Cox's Bazar on Thursday noon.

 Addressing all those present at the flag hoisting parade, he said Bangladesh Army has been making significant contribution to the socio-economic and infrastructural development of the country including defending the sovereignty of the country as well as dealing with natural and man-made disasters.

At the beginning of his directional speech, the Chief of Army Staff reverently remembered Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under whose single leadership our great Liberation War was initiated.

At the same time, he remembered all the heroic freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives in the War of Liberation in 1971.

General Aziz Ahmed directed the members of the 10th Infantry Division present at Ramu Cantonment to develop confidence, mutual trust, sympathy, brotherhood and maintain discipline as a disciplined, efficient and capable army member. 

At the same time, he instructed them to be always ready to face any internal and external threats by achieving professionalism.

Finally, the Chief of Army Staff thanked all concerned for displaying an orderly, pleasant and colourful parade on the occasion of  the flag hoisting.

Senior Army officers and Army personnel of various ranks were present on the occasion. Another milestone has been added in the way of implementation of Bangladesh Army Development Vision Proses Goal 2030 through the deployment of 10 Infantry Divisions and 4 units in Cox's Bazar area. 

The Division is successfully engaged in all training and administrative activities as well as providing security and relief to the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals.

When the Chief of Army Staff was present at the venue, he was received by GOC and Area Commander of 10th Infantry Division, Cox's Bazar Area Major General Ahmed Tabrez Shams Chowdhury. A paramilitary contingent of the Army led by Major Rifat Uddin Bhuiyan then paraded and saluted the Chief of Army Staff. 

The flags of Bangladesh Army Station Headquarters Ramu, Static Signal Company Ramu, CMH Ramu and 10 Field Intelligence Unit were hoisted by Army Chief and senior Army officials at the time.

Later, on the occasion of Mujib Barsho, he handed over prizes to the army members who came to Teknaf by cycling from Tetulia. A cake was cut on the occasion. Later the Army Chief left Cox's Bazar by helicopter in the afternoon.
