Bangladesh High Commission to India on Thursday celebrated the 102nd birth anniversary and the National Children's Day-2022 in a befitting manner.
On this day in 1920, Bangabandhu, the undisputed leader of the Bengali nation and the architect of independent Bangladesh was born in a respected Muslim family at Tungipara village of the then Gopalganj sub-division, now district.
The day's programme was begun with the hoisting of National flag at the chancery premises in the morning. The officials and employees of the mission and representative of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) joined the event.
Later, the Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran flanked by senior officers of the mission paid tribute to Bangabandhu by placing floral wreaths at the portrait of the great leader and the greatest Bengali of all times.
Wreaths were also placed at the portrait of Bangabandhu separately on behalf of BSS and Biman Bangladesh Airlines to pay homage of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh.
A discussion was also organised at the chancery premises on the lives and struggle of Bangabandhu, who struggled throughout his life for establishing the rights of Bengali people and for the betterment of their livelihood.
High Commissioner Muhammad Imran and Defense Advisor to the mission Md. Abul Kalam Azad took part in the discussion.
Taking part in the discussion, Imran urged all concerned to encourage their children to learn from the life and struggle of the great leader Bangabandhu , who struggled throughout his life for the wellbeing of the down trodden masses of Bangladesh.
Earlier, messages from President M. Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam were read out.
A special "Munajat" (prayers) was offered seeking divine blessings for Bangabandhu and those who were brutally killed on the fateful night on August 15, 1975.
Later, in the afternoon, the mission organised arts-essay and public speech competitions for the children of the mission officials and employees to mark the day.
Besides, similar programmes were also organised at the Bangladesh deputy missions in Kolkata and Mumbai, according to message received here.
