In a programme titled ‘Annual Media Reception’ held at Hotel Sonargaon on Thursday, Indian High Commissioner Riva Ganguly mentioned that the media in Bangladesh is vibrant and interactive. She said that India and Bangladesh are enjoying a friendship worth mentioning and hoped it would strengthen further in the coming days.

In this respect, government of both the countries and the private sectors are working closely. Both the countries are committed to helping each other in developing education, business, culture and security. It will be further strengthened in future through mutual interactions in various sectors, she added.

She particularly mentioned the bond existing between the neighbouring countries, especially since the time of Liberation War in 1971 when India extended its all-out support and cooperation. That support and friendship has since long been nurtured and now has flourished into the state of friendship it is now at. Already Bangladesh and India are vital partners in progress, and a number of joint ventures have been taken by the two countries. In different sectors including education, business, health and environment, both the governments are playing an important role in development.

She further mentioned that India and Bangladesh business relations is no doubt much better than before. The business-friendly nature of both countries is sure to boost up the economy of the two countries; and new avenues of business expansion will surely come up through mutual understanding, she said.
