BD can be a regional aviation hub

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali said, “Bangladesh is the potential name for the aviation industry. We are working to transform this possibility into a success. We will be a regional hub for the aviation industry”. 

He came up with these comments while inaugurating Singapore Airlines Airbus A350-900 medium-haul aircraft as chief guest at a city hotel in the capital recently. 

Referring to the friendly relations between Bangladesh and Singapore the state minister said, “Bangladesh and Singapore have strong ties of cooperation on various issues including tourism, aviation, power and energy, Blue economy, manpower export, and maritime security. We have many opportunities to make our ties even stronger”. “With the airbus inauguration I believe, we stepped ahead to accelerate our commercial relation more in the coming days” Mahbub added. 

For the first time, Singapore Airlines (SIA) has launched operations of Airbus A350-900 medium-haul aircraft in Bangladesh marking its maiden flight from Dhaka to Singapore on the very first day of this month. George Robertson, General Manager – Bangladesh of Singapore Airlines made the boarding announcement for A350-900’s inaugural flight.

Featuring new regional Business Class and Economy Class cabin products, the A350-900 medium-haul Business Class cabin has 40 seats while the Economy Class cabin has 263. The A350-900 is fitted with the latest Thales AVANT in-flight entertainment system and designed with a new user interface that offers a more intuitive user experience and navigation options.

  Passengers will be able to enjoy Singapore Airlines’ myKrisWorld, personalised in-flight entertainment (IFE) now with even greater control.  Moreover, passengers will have access to high-speed in-flight WiFi service.

  Air Vice-Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Chairman and Air Commodore Md Khalid Hossain, Member – Operations and Planning of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, William Chik, Consul of Singapore in Bangladesh, AHM Touhid-ul Ahsan, Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport and Mosharaf Hossain, Chief of Armed Police Battalion were also present on the occasion.
