BCSIR scientific congress begins in city

An International Scientific Congress organized by Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR), began on its Dhanmondi campus in the city on Friday, in celebration of the Golden Jubilee of BCSIR, said a press release.

Side by side different universities and research institutes of Bangladesh, representatives from more than 30 countries including the United States, China, Japan, Australia, India, Korea, and Britain, will take part in the scientific congress and present their research papers.Nobel Laureate for medical research in 2016, Japanese scientist Dr Yoshinori Oshumu said, anybody can present his research papers to the conference online despite his or her absence in the conference.

Health Minister Prof Dr Samantalal Sen said, “There is no alternative to advancement of science to make Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Smart Bangladesh. So, he urged the scientists to put emphasis on research of science. Through this congress knowledge of new scientists will grow, he added.

Minister of Science and Technology of Government of Bangladesh Architect Yafes Osman also addressed the congress. 

BCSIR chairman Dr Md Aftab Ali Shaikh, president of the congress delivered the address of welcome and thanked all the participants.
