BCS announces new executive committee

The Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) formed its new Executive Committee for the 2025-2027 term on Monday.

In the new committee, Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Managing Director of Smart Technologies (BD) Ltd., has been elected as the President, while Muhammad Monirul Islam, Managing Director of Computer City Technologies Ltd., will serve as the Secretary General.

Joining them on the committee are Md. Wahidul Hasan Dipu (Proprietor, Landmark Computers) as Vice-President, Md. Ahsanul Islam (Proprietor, PC Garden) as Joint Secretary General, and Abul Hasan (Proprietor, H M Computers) as Treasurer. The two director positions will be filled by Md. Nazrul Islam Hazari (Proprietor, Welkin Computers) and Md. Iqbal Hossain (Proprietor, Jazzy).

It is noted that all seven members were elected as directors without any contest on Saturday, June 21, 2025. According to the election schedule, they submitted their nominations for the various office bearer positions on June 22. As there was only one candidate for each post, the election board officially announced the results and the distribution of positions on Monday, June 23.

The BCS Election Board was led by Chairman Sharif Raihan Kabir (Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Commerce), with board members Sandwip Kumar Sarkar (Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Commerce) and Md. Sirajul Islam (Deputy Controller, Ministry of Commerce).

Nahid Afroz, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, is currently serving as the administrator of BCS and will soon hand over the responsibilities to the newly-elected Executive Committee.
