A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was hacked to death in front of his house in Tangail's Nagarpur upazila on Monday night.
The deceased was Jahid Hasan Jhalak, 26, upazila unit organising secretary.
The incident happened at about 9pm at Maddhyapara area near Jahid's house.
Around 9pm, some young criminals called Jahid out of his house. When he came out, they instantly attacked him with sharp weapons and hacked him there.
Local people, later, rescued him in critical condition and took him to Upazila Health Complex.
There Jahid was declared dead by the on-duty doctors.
Nagarpur Police Station OC HM Jashim Uddin said police drive in on to arrest the culprits.
