The 74th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the Awami League, was celebrated at Jahangirnagar University on Tuesday with many enthusiasms.

Marking the anniversary, leaders and activists of JU BCL headed by its president Aktaruzzaman Shohel and general secretary Habibur Rahman Liton placed a floral wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi road-32 in the city early in the morning.

Then they brought out a colourful procession from the university’s transport yard. After parading different streets on the campus, the procession ended with a brief discussion on the central cafeteria premises. Later, the leaders cut a cake.

Addressing the rally, Aktaruzzaman Shohel said, “Bangladesh is achieving its goals and dreams of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. BCL will always work to strengthen her hand.”

“We will work to build JU unit as a model one,” he added.

Habibur Rahman Liton said, “We will try our level best to fulfill our responsibilities and guidelines given to us by the central leaders. We want cooperation of all.”

BCL central committee announced the JU unit committee on January 3, 2022. On January 4, 1948, BCL was floated as a student organisation at the instruction of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, a year before the formal emergence of Awami Muslim League, now Awami League.
