BCG seizes Yaba tablets, Foreign liquor

14,000 pieces of Yaba tablets and 1005 bottles of foreign liquor were seized in two separate raids by Bangladesh Coast Guard Station Teknaf and Bangladesh Coast Guard Station Saint Martin’s.

Lieutenant Commander Abdur Rahman, media officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters, gave this information on Saturday afternoon.

Based on tip-off, a special operation was conducted by BCG Station Teknaf at Tulatali Ghat area under Teknaf Police Station on Saturday 14 January 2023 at approximately 0100 hrs. During the operation, a suspicious person was seen walking from Tulatali Ghat to Marine Drive with a white plastic bag on his shoulder. A Coast Guard member signaled the man to stop if his movements appeared suspicious. Realizing the presence of the Coast Guard, the man dropped the sack in the forest by the roadside and quickly fled to the locality. Later, Coast Guard personnel recovered the sack and seized 14,000 pieces of Yaba tablets hidden in the net.

On the other hand, a special operation was conducted by BCG Station St. Martin at around 0330 hours in the south beach area of Shahpuri Island under Teknaf police station. During the operation, several sacks were found in the south beach area of Shahpuri Island inside the Jhow forest in a fancy way for smuggling. Later 42 sacks were recovered by Coast Guard personnel and 1005 bottles of foreign liquor were seized from the sacks.

The seized Yaba and foreign liquor were handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action.
