Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) in Borguna conducted a drive at Taltoli upazila on Tuesday. During the drive, 2 million pieces of shrimp larvae were seized from a local fish market.
Media officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard Lieutenand Commander Amirul Haque on Wednesday noon stated that information in a press release.
Lt Commander Amirul Haque said that after receiving information, a team of BCG from Bangladesh Coast Guard South Zone contacted a drive at local fish markets in Taltoli upazila. Hearing the news, shrimp smugglers ran off from the scene before the BCG team had arrived. During the raid, 20 lakh of shrimp larvae were found on metal crates.
After the raid, these shrimp larvae were released at Sakinar Khal canal in the presence of Taltoli Upazila Fisheries Officer Mahbubul Alam.
Lt Commander Amirul Haque during the press release said that Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations to curb down the rate of crime in coastal areas.
