BCG seizes Jatka from Mawa, Narayanganj

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) Personnel in different drives seized tonnes of Jatka from Maowa and Narayanganj area on Sunday. 

A total of 8,800 kilograms of Jatka (Hilsa fries) were seized during the special drives of Coast Guard.

Officials of Bangladesh Coast Guard said that members of BCG Maowa Station Conducted a special drive at 4:00am on Sunday at Kobutorkhola area of Padma River. A speed boat and 2, 600 kilograms of Jatka were seized during the drive.

Later, the seized speed boat was handed over to Upazila Fisheries Officers and the fishes were distributed among distressed people in Maowa area. 

Meanwhile, personnel of BCG Pagla Station led by Lieutenant M Ashmadul Islam conducted a special drive at Pier 05 of Pagla Port. A total of 6,200 kilograms of Jatka were seized during the drive at 5:00am on Sunday.

Later, the fishes were distributed among 30 local madrasahs and distressed people. None could be arrested in this connection.
