BCG seizes 7.8 lakh Yaba pills from St Martin’s Island

Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) on Friday night seized a huge consignment of 7.8 lakh Yaba tablets from Saint Martins Island in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.

Media Officer of Bangladesh Coast Guard Headquarter Lt Khandakar Munif Toki on Saturday stated that during a press briefing.

Lt Munif said that, acting on a tip-off, a team of BCG Station Teknaf led by Lt Commander M Nayeem Ul Haque raided Chhera Dwip area of Saint Martins Island.  While spotting a suspicious boat, BCG members signaled the boat to stop. While fleeing from the scene, drug paddlers left 4 sacks full of yaba at the scene at fled to the Mianmar border area by boat.

BCG Members later seized 7.8 lakh Yaba tablets from the sacks. Process is ongoing to hand these Yaba tablets to Teknaf Model Police Station.

Lt Munif said that such drives of BCG will be continued to curb down the crime rate in coastal areas.
