A large quantity of tariff less Indian sari seized and three detained during the Coast Guard operation on Saturday.
Lieutenant Commander Abdur Rahman, Media Officer at the Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) headquarters, confirmed the information on Sunday.
He said that on the basis of tip-off, a special operation was carried out BCG station Pagla under the leadership of Lieutenant Shams Sadekin on Saturday night in the area adjacent to Shitalakshya River in Bhulta Paschim Paragaon area of Rupganj police station of Narayanganj district. During the operation, a suspicious movement of a truck was found and BCG members stopped the truck and searched it. And they seized tariff less illegal Indian Katan sari 3,653 pieces, Indian share 5021 pieces, Indian lehenga 215 pieces, Indian three pieces 57 set and three people detained with truck. The market value of the seized goods is about 5. 6 crore. He further said that the seized illegal sari, lehenga and three-pieces have been handed over to Siddique Bazar Custom House, Dhaka and the truck and 03 detainees are in the process of being handed over to Rupganj Police Station for further legal action.
