Personnel of Bangladesh Coast Guard seized over 140 mounds of Jatka fish from Hatia upazila of Noakhali district. These fishes were being transported from Hajirghat area of the upazila.
BCG personnel on Saturday raided multiple places and seized over 140 mounds of Jatka (juvenile Hilsha). This fishes were later distributed among local madrassas in the area.
Bangladesh Coast Guard Hatia Station Commander Lieutenant Iftekharul islam confirming the matter, said that on a tip off, a team of BCG personnel conducted several raids in Hatia upazila. During the raids, over 140 mounds of jatka fishes were seized from two trawlers. These fishes were being transported to other districts. Later, upon the advice of Hatia Upazila Nirbahi Officer, these fishers were distributed among local madrassas at the presence of upazila fisheries officers. The estimated market price of these fishes are over Tk 17 lakhs, officials said.
