BCG detains 5 people with foreign liquor

A patrol team of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) base Mongla conducted a raid at the three-lane intersection adjacent to the bus stand of Mongla Police station in Bagerhat at about 8:00 pm on Thursday.

Based on a tip off five men were arrested with 26 bottles of foreign liquor during the raid. The arrestees were identified as Shri Prati Mandal Roy (48), Madhav Adhikari (19), Pinku Gain (30), Aftaf Khalifa (20) and Shiv Sankar (18). Among them, Madhab Adhikari is a resident of Mongla Upazila and the others are residents of Rampal Upazila of the district. The seized liquors and the arrestees were handed over to Mongla police station for further legal action. 

Lieutenant M Mazharul Haque, Zonal Commander of the Coast Guard West Zone stated in a press release on Friday BCG will continue operations to maintain law-order and public safety as well as to curb drug trade in the areas under its jurisdiction.
