Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) detained three miscreants with one firearm, 10 hand grenades, and four locally made machetes during a drive conducted at Madanpur union in Daulatkhan upazila of Bhola on Friday.
The detainees are identified as Mafiz Mal, 36, Md Mamun Mal, 22, and Md Shamim Mal, 19.
Regarding the operation, the BCG held a press conference at around 10.30am at the office of the Zonal Commander of the Bangladesh Coast Guard South Zone in Bhola.
In the press conference, Captain Mohammad Rifat Ahmed said acting on a tip-off we carried out a joint drive at Madanpur union in Daulatkhan upazila of Bhola district. During the overnight drive, we were able to arrest notorious miscreants Mafiz, Mamun, and Shamim, seizing one firearm, four locally made machetes, and 10 hand grenades from their possession. The detainees were involved in extortion, land grabbing, and spreading fear in various areas of Madanpur for a long time, he added. BCG's Media Officer Lt. Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi along with other officials were present at that time.
